CURATING CONTEST AT LA LOUISIANE Hôtel La Louisiane, 60 rue de Seine, 75006 Paris. It will gather critics, journalists, and other contemporary art opinion leaders, to give them the chance of becoming, for a short time, the curators of their own room's showings. At the very basis of the project, there are simple rules and a very light operating mode : Sixteen rooms to be given through a ballot, fourteen independent curators and ten days to make the place – about fifteen square meters -into an artwork. For each one the same deal : artists and curators are given free hand and one month to imagine and set up the show of their choice. In a ludic way, each one would be able to work with young emerging artists, to defend new projects and to express one's personality through a living creation. La Louisiane hotel had had many other great experiences before : John Coltrane, Miles Davis as high representants for postwar jazz, Beauvoir, Sartre, and existentialists, more recently Keith Harring, or Quentin Tarantino, who is said to have written Pulp Fiction within… it belongs to the hotel's history to have its artistic voice heard. Once again, La Louisiane proves its love for arts and welcomes this « little game for friends of contemporary art », at 60 rue de Seine, third floor. Before everything was up, three keywords fostered this experimental happening, suggested by the galerist: Liberty, Emergency and Generosity. In St Germain des prés, Olivier Robert wanted to see an alternative project to blossom, hung to the hotel's psychedelic corridors, a place where myths and contemporary art phantasms meet and a playroom for both competitors and visitors.
